This fall, we are offering a unique internship opportunity for motivated law students or recent graduates interested in litigation and hands-on courtroom experience.
Position Overview
The Fall Legal Intern will assist the firm in handling small claims actions across multiple Massachusetts counties. This role offers extensive exposure to litigation procedure, case preparation, and in-person courtroom advocacy. The intern will be entrusted with substantive responsibilities, including appearing at small claims hearings under attorney supervision.
Details
• Location: Primarily remote/office work, with in-person court appearances throughout Massachusetts counties.
• Schedule: Part-time (flexible), Fall 2025 semester.
• Compensation: Paid internship
Responsibilities:
• Assist Admin Staff in drafting and filing small claims pleadings, motions, and related documents.
• Manage case files, track deadlines, and assist with hearing preparation.
• Communicate with litigants, court staff, and opposing parties in a professional manner.
• Appear in court to present small claims matters, under the supervision of the firm’s attorneys.
• Perform legal research on issues related to Massachusetts small claims and civil practice.
• Participate in and status reporting in the weekly team status meeting.
Qualifications:
• Current law student or paralegal candidate (2L or 3L preferred) or recent law school graduate.
• Must have a car and be available to appear in Massachusetts small claims court under attorney supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and the ability to represent the firm in a courtroom setting.
• Willingness to travel to various courthouses across Massachusetts.
