Job Summary: This role is responsible for supporting internal and external clients in all aspects of refrigeration engineering design projects, including CAD design, BOM’s, refrigeration system, coil sizing, sheet metal, plumbing, wiring schematic development and component selection.

Responsibilities:

• Utilizes Taprite’s Product Development Process throughout planning and design to lead the development of products.
• Develop designs for refrigeration products. Collaborate with production on the fabrication process and troubleshoot concerns with complex systems.
• Provide training for Engineering prototype and Manufacturing teams related to new and modified refrigeration system designs and processes.
• Continually support the team with assessments of new and existing performance and designs.
• Specifies purchased parts, equipment and materials required for optimum performance of refrigeration systems and design processes.
• Ensure product design is in accordance with governmental regulations.
• Develops detailed testing plans and performs testing in the lab.
• Facilitates design reviews and other status updates with other functions.
• Provides support and expertise in the sustainment of existing products, including evaluation of deviations and change requests, root cause analysis, technical bulletins, etc.
• Communicates effectively with customers & suppliers on project related activities.
• Provides technical support for the production line, customers, Supply Chain, Quality, and Sales.
• Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems. 
• Identify and drive cost reduction initiatives.
• May supervise activities of Designers, Draftsmen and/or Lab Technicians.
• Facilitates project reviews and meetings.
• Other responsibilities as needed and assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
• 3+ years’ experience required in Refrigeration Engineering with emphasis on design including project management.
• Technical curriculum of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, mechanics and material science.
• Experience in the following areas required: design sheet metal, manufacturing methods and multi-level BOM management.
• Proficient in the use of parametric solid modelling software such as Solidworks, Inventor, Mechanical Desktop, Pro-E, or Unigraphics. Solidworks experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient in the use of industry best practices for engineering design (FMEA, DFMEA, etc).
• Knowledge of proper dimensioning and tolerancing practices, as well as quality processes, costs of defects, and how quality relates to the design and manufacturing of the product.
• Proficient with Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, and follow-through skills) with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work collaboratively to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment.
• Detail oriented and excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high levels of quality.
• Travel as needed (up to 15%)
