SUMMARY:

As a Manual Lathe Machinist, you will be at the forefront of driving positive change at our state-of-the-art Service Repair Shop in Cleveland, OH. JOB DUTIES \n - Machines parts to specifications, using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. Sets up, adjusts, or operates basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
\n - Measures, examines or tests completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers. Calculates dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or Vernier calipers.
\n - Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition. Operates equipment to verify operational efficiency.
\n - Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
\n - Uses various bandsaws, cutoff wheels, table saws, and pedestal grinders.
\n - Lays out, measures and marks metal stock to display placement of cuts. Fits and assembles parts to make or repair machine tools. Sets up or operates metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, or cutting equipment.
\n - Installs repaired parts into equipment or install new equipment. Checks work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.
\n - Designs fixtures, tooling, or experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
\n - Supports metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics. Prepare working sketches for the illustration of product appearance.
\n - Tests experimental models under simulated operating conditions for purposes such as development, standardization, or feasibility of design. Install experimental parts or assemblies, such as hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants or batteries into machines or mechanisms.
\n - Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Typically requires a high school diploma or GED.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES \n - Strong communication skills required.
\n - Basic mechanical knowledge.
\n - Ability to operate shop equipment safely.
\n - Manual Lathe experience.
\n - Bridgeport/Vertical Bed Mill experience.
\n - Ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: \n - Requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination.
\n - Push/pull up to 100 pounds
\n - Lift/carry up to 100 pounds
\n - Lift bulky objects
\n - Neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, reach and lift, ladder climb and carry, crawling.
\n - Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
\n - Ability to work overtime and weekends.
