Job Description Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as AutoCAD. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
__PRESENT
Basic Qualifications Associate's degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience: High school diploma and 7 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications - Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of electrical diagrams, deck plans, wiring diagrams, and electrical terminations
- Produce electrical design modifications with little guidance
- Knowledge of drafting procedures and materials, shipbuilding materials, elementary electrical circuits, electronic system principals, and design of electrical equipment and systems
- 3 years of related experience in power, controls, IC or combat systems design
- Associate degree in engineering design related field is preferred
