🚧 CAD Designer - Capital Projects

About the Role
Are you a CAD guru with a passion for precision and piping? Do you find joy in transforming complex industrial systems into clean, accurate drawings? If so, this could be the role for you!
We’re on the hunt for a detail-obsessed CAD Designer to join our Capital Projects team near Joliet, IL. You’ll be our go-to person for updating engineering drawings, field-verifying info in the plant, and keeping our engineering records crisp, clean, and compliant.
What You’ll Be Doing:
🎯 AutoCAD Aficionado: Create and revise drawing files (AutoCAD 2020+), including P&IDs, PFDs, plot plans, and general arrangements.
🏭 Facility Familiarity: Know your way around an industrial plant — from piping to tanks to instrumentation — and accurately represent them on paper.
🧐 Field Sleuthing: Walk down equipment and verify drawings match the real-world setup (we love accuracy).
🔄 Records Rockstar: Help maintain and verify engineering records before PHAs and after MOCs.
📤 Drawing Dispatcher: Assist with sending/receiving drawings from 3rd-party firms and managing drawing transmittals.
🧠 Detail Detective: Work solo or with the team to solve problems, catch discrepancies, and make sure no pixel is out of place.
🤝 Collaborator Extraordinaire: Work closely with Corporate and Plant functions including Process Engineering, Reliability, and front-line operators.
🗣️ Communication Champ: Bring solid verbal and written communication skills to every conversation, email, and markup.
What You Bring to the Table
🎓 Education:
High School Diploma required.
Associate’s Degree in Technical Drafting or similar field = big plus.
🛠️ Experience:
10+ years in CAD design within oil/chemical or related industries.
Must be able to read, interpret, and create highly technical documents and CAD drawings.
Bonus points for experience in managing engineering records.
💻 Tech Skills:
Proficient in AutoCAD 2020 or newer.
Familiarity with FastLook
Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite — Excel, Word, Access are your playground.
Experience with MS Teams and SharePoint is a plus.
🚗 Other Must-Haves:
A valid driver’s license.
Willingness and ability to do field walk-downs in a working industrial facility.
Comfortable lifting 25 lbs, climbing stairs/ladders, and using fall protection when needed.
